25. Occupational/Assessment Questions:

1. From the descriptions below, select the letter that describes the education or experience you have that demonstrates your ability to perform GS-9, Paralegal Specialist work.

A. I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in Federal service that involved performing the following types of duties: examining and processing a variety of legal documents; conducting detailed research, analysis and evaluation of data in response to complex and/or politically sensitive requests; drafting litigation recommendations, legal documents and correspondence; analyzing and determining appropriate action required; summarizing factual information, legal issues, and case law relevant to a given case; and assisting with the preparation of exhibits, such as statistical charts, graphs and maps; documenting findings and preparing recommendations; searching legal reference files and other sources for information and data required by attorneys.
B. I have completed two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education or have a master's or equivalent degree in law, paralegal studies, or a closely related field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of a Paralegal Specialist.

C. I have a combination of experience as described under letter A above and graduate education as described under letter B above which, when combined, is equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. (Only graduate education in excess of the first full year may be used in this calculation). To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate hours that exceed 18 semester hours (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study), then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 18 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%.

D. I do not have the experience and/or education as described above.

In this part, you will respond to questions about experiences you have had that are related to the requirements of the job for which you are applying.
