Occupational/Assessment Questions:

1. ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A ELECTRICIAN WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION (SCREEN OUT) from the descriptions below, please choose the best response to describe your ability to perform electrician work. You must document your experience in your resume.

A. Perform work at the journeyman level to complete the most complex and unusual tasks of electrical work on own initiative. Examples of qualifying experience would include working as a licensed electrician doing installation, designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems with a variety of voltages, amperages, circuits and phase requirements, and related switches, distribution panels and other outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools and appliances. In addition, works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and repair manuals while following prescribed procedures and regulatory codes. Possess the knowledge and ability to use electrical and electronic meters and tools associated with all phases of the trade. Have the ability to instruct lower graded employees in all aspects of the position.
B. Perform work at the journeyman level to perform the more difficult aspects of electrical work under general supervision. Examples of qualifying experience would include working as a licensed electrician doing installation, designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems with a variety of voltages, amperages, circuits and phase requirements, and related switches, distribution panels and outlet boxes, as well as a wide variety of electrical fixtures, tools and appliances. In addition, works from plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and repair manuals while following prescribed procedures and regulatory codes. Possess the knowledge and ability to use electrical and electronic meters and tools associated with all phases of the trade.
C. Perform work at the journeyman level to perform all normal tasks assigned under general supervision. Examples of qualifying experience would include installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting electrical lines and circuits both AC and DC systems; bending pipe; installing light fixtures; pulling wire; and reading blueprints. Possess the knowledge and ability to use electrical and electronic meters and tools associate with the trade.
D. Ability to perform the more common, less difficult tasks of the trade under normal supervision such as repairing small electrical appliances and equipment such as vacuum cleaners, saws, motors, and portable lighting fixtures following prescribed procedures and regulatory codes.

2. Possession of a valid Tennessee State General Journeyman Electrician License is required to safely perform the duties of this position. If you do not possess a Tennessee State General Journeyman Electrician License, you must have comparable current certification in another state and be able to obtain a Tennessee State Trainee Electrician License or higher within 6 months of entry on duty.

37. Interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.

38. Use mathematic formulas basic to the electrician trade to determine voltage and resistance.

39. Observe and apply safety regulations to work being done.

40. Follow OSHA standards while performing electrical work.

41. Perform work according to the National Electrical Code Manuals.

42. Assist in drawing and developing schematics, drawings and routing maintenance procedures for use by others in performing daily maintenance and minor troubleshooting of specific needed systems.

43. Design and draw schematics and diagrams for new systems and modifications to existing systems in order to maintain up-to-date records of as-built conditions.
