A. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level. Specialized experience is fulfilled by the following: (1) Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of microbiology as it relates to pathogenic bacteria; (2) Knowledge of basic molecular genetics techniques such as PCR or DNA cloning or DNA extraction; (3) Skill in the use of a personal computer and software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel for data collection and analysis.

B. I have 1 year of graduate level education that is directly related to the work of the position and demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities described in option A above.

C. I have a combination of specialized experience and directly related graduate level education as described in options A and B above, such that the percentage of required experience plus the percentage of required education equals 100%. To calculate, first determine your total number of graduate semester hours, and divide that number by 18. Next, divide the total number of months of qualifying experience by 12.
