GENERAL EXPERIENCE is any experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the work of the position, or experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of general experience include, but are not limited to, performing field work such as working on a trail crew or on a resource field crew. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes work in forestry aid or technician work; engineering, range, or soil conservation technician work that involved the application of cultural, resource conservation, or land management practices on nonforest or ranch lands when combined with knowledge of forestry operations and equipment; farming or ranching work that involved application of cultural and soil and water conservation practices, including safety and use of equipment, and that provided a basic understanding of land use; or forest or range fire control, prevent on, or suppression work.

B. I have at least 4 seasons of specialized experience. SEASONAL EXPERIENCE is considered to be a period of no less than 3 months of continuous employment on a seasonal basis.

C. I have successfully completed 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 3 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.

D. I have a combination of experience as described in A or B above and education as described in C above which total at least one year. For example, 6 months of experience (50% of the experience) and one year of related under-graduate study (50% of the education requirement) would qualify an applicant for this position.

14. Collect weather data on fire assignments in order to make fire behavior calculations.

15. Complete training in fire safety.

16. Conduct fire or safety training as an instructor or demonstrator.

17. Complete training in basic first aid procedures sufficient to be a first responder.

18. Recognize unsafe practices and conditions and implements appropriate mitigation.

19. Perform assignments that involved wildland-urban interface situations.

20. Perform wildland fire duties using axes, shovels, Pulaskis, McLeods, and power tools such as chainsaws.

21. Construct fireline using a variety of tools.

22. Maintain firefighting tools and equipment.

23. Perform work, such as road and trail maintenance and habitat manipulation.
