2. Interpret engineering drawings and technical documents for complex equipment used in testing respiratory protective devices and other personal protective equipment.

3. Design and fabricate experimental equipment for use to evaluate performance characteristics of respiratory protective devices and other personal protective equipment.

4. Coordinate instrumentation efforts for successful installation of test apparatus and laboratory set-ups to evaluate personal protective technologies.

5. Coordinate technology benchmark testing of respirators and other personal protective equipment with desired performance results to ensure accuracy and adequacy.

6. Use hand, power and machine shop tools to fabricate and modify experimental apparatus.

7. Fabricate test support fixtures to perform gas and vapor evaluations of canisters and cartridges to anticipated performance requirements.

8. Fabricate test support fixtures for bench top evaluations of respiratory protective devices to benchmark performance against established standards.

9. Support and prepare technical reports which include engineering data and analysis of results to report research findings.

10. Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instruments to ensure accurate results.

11. Utilize database or spreadsheet software to organize, analyze and graphically present data.

12. Develop new and follow established research protocols in collecting, measuring, and recording data.

13. Maintain detailed and accurate records of methodologies, data, and analyses performed in research to resolve inconclusive findings and/or disputed data and report research findings.

14. Develop clear instructions and accurate protocols for other technicians to follow for the fabrication of experimental equipment and systems used to collect the data.

15. Participate in the drafting of research findings to be published.

16. Produce and present data collected and experimental methods in support of publications.
