Basic Requirements

1. To meet the basic qualifications for the GS-13 grade level, you must meet one of the following requirements.

A. I have a bachelor's degree in one of the following: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. (You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (need not be official), or a list of college courses to verify this.)
B. I have a combination of education and experience, education equivalent to one of the majors shown in "A" above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (need not be official), or a list of college courses to verify this, and your resume MUST support your claim of specialized experience.) When combining education with experience, first determine the applicant's total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine the applicant's experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.
