1. From the descriptions below, select the letter that best describes how you meet the basic requirement for the Accountant position. The information you provide will be verified against your transcript. Failure to respond will result in an ineligible rating. Transcript(s) must be provided with your application package to verify your educational claim and/or appropriate certificate.

A. I possess a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in accounting, or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
B. I possess a combination of education and experience (at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge). In addition, my background also includes one of the following: (1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; (2) A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination or: (3) Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g. 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) I have successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, your education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.

2. I possess one year of specialized experience in accounting equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) work with senior staff to classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data; (2) use established guidelines to find, review or change accounting data in transaction files, ledgers, accounts, reports, and financial statements; (3) identify accounting transaction problems in an accounting system; (4) recommend actions to senior staff to prevent recurrence of similar discrepancies; (5) prepare statements and reports, schedules, and comparative analysis of accounting transactions; and (6) carry out assignments independently, but refers deviations, problems and unfamiliar situations not covered by instructions to supervisor for assistance.
B. I have completed 1 year of graduate-level education in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration.
C. I have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and my Superior Academic Standing (S.A.A) is based on: (1) class standing: I am in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; or (2) grade-point average: I have a 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on my official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of my curriculum; or (3) honor society membership.
D. I have some specialized experience described in "A", but less than one year; and have some graduate education described in "B", but less than one year. I have computed the percentage of the requirements met, and the total is at least 100%. (Note: To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. I possess one year of specialized experience in accounting equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) identify accounting problems such as inadequate maintenance of fund controls, inaccurate records and reports, improper methods of document control, and lack of documentary evidence to support performance or regulatory reconciliations; (2) compile centrally requested cost reports and reports of variance from standards; (3) conduct special cost analysis of program operations for accounting or financial management systems; (4) draft simple instructions to describe internal accounting procedures for a procedures manual to be prepared by a senior accountant; and (5) respond to inquiries regarding specific rules and procedures governing the processing of routine budgetary actions.
B. I have completed 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration.
C. I have completed less than the education and experience described above. However, I have completed a combination of education and experience that when computed the total exceeds 100% of the total requirement. (Note: only graduate education above the first 18 semester hours or equivalent was used in this computation).
D. I do not have the education and/or experience described above.

4. B. I have completed 3 years of progressively higher- level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration.
C. I have completed less than the education and/or experience described above. However, I have completed a combination of education and experience that when computed the total exceeds 100% of the total requirement. (Note: only graduate education above the first 36 semester hours or equivalent is used in this computation).
