A. I possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the federal service. Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Park Ranger. Experience may have been in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: park guide or tour leader, law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area.
B. I have successfully completed one year of graduate level study which is directly related to the work of the position. Examples of related education include, but are not limited to; park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
C. I have a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and education as described in B above which total at least one year.
D. I do not have the experience or education as described in any of the above statements.

A. I possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the federal service. Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Park Ranger. Experience may have been in technical, administrative, or scientific work, fish and wildlife management, recreation management, law enforcement, or other park-related work. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: park guide or tour leader; law enforcement or investigative work; archeological or historical preservation research work; forestry and/or fire management work in a park, recreation, or conservation area.
B. I have successfully completed two years of graduate level study which is directly related to the work of the position. Examples of related education include, but are not limited to; park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. One year of graduate study is considered to be 18 semester hours. PLEASE NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts if you are using education to qualify.
C. I have a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and education as described in B above which total at least one year. For example, 6 months of specialized experience (50% of the experience) and 18 graduate level semester hours (50% of the education), would qualify an applicant for the position.
D. I do not have the experience or education as described in any of the above statements.

3. Lead or direct volunteers, interns, and guide staff in the educational program at Big South Fork National River and Recreational Area incorporating educational theory, child development and participatory learning principles.

4. Understand NPS mission, goals, policies, and guidelines in conducting a curriculum-based education program.

5. Develops educational guidelines and coordinates the educational program schedules with the area school teachers and Division Chief or Superintendent.

6. Coordinate, train and coach park staff to provide educational programs, activities and workshops that incorporate educational theory, child development, and learning styles.
