1. Basic Qualifications:  Are you fully bilingual in Indonesian and English and do you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-09 TV Production Specialist, or equivalent which is directly related to this line of work OR the education requirement OR the equivalent combination of experience and education?


You must meet one of the following three experience/education requirements to be eligible for this position:


Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of such experience include all aspects of producing live or taped national and world news, informational reports, human interest stories, and/or popular culture stories using state-of-the-art techniques and production technology including digital video recording equipment, digital video editing and graphics software, etc., in a way that appeals to the adult Indonesian audience.




Education: Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education or the successful completion  of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or completion of all requirements for an LL.M.

Major study -- Photography, radio, Television and/or Motion picture production, Communications, Broadcast Journalism or other fields related to the position.




Education and Experience: Equivalent combination of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.

2. Ability to accurately translate English scripts and sound bites to Indonesian.

Demonstrated experience and thorough knowledge of the professional techniques of TV broadcast journalism, and state-of-the-art TV production principles, practices and procedures.


Demonstrated interpersonal skills working within a team and applying broadcasting principles and methods to produce television programming for audiences in Indonesia.


Ability to organize detailed and various production elements using digital media systems such as DaletPlus and by following priorities set by TV Executive Producer and/or program producers.


Ability to synthesize multiple sources of information, sound bites, interviews, video clips and stills into a broadcast-ready television story.


Skill in operating a video camera and related equipment in the field to record both news and feature events.


Ability to shoot cuttable sequences of broadcast quality digital video and audio and prepare scripts that support that material.


Ability to perform final cuts and edits to story packages on PC-based and/or MAC-based systems and laptops.


Knowledge of world events, including U.S. foreign policies related to Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region.


Knowledge of Indonesian history, economics, culture, and socio-political developments.
