I have a combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e., 18 semester hours) in history or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in 2A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The quality of the combination demonstrates that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the work of the position and is comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a full four-year course of study with a major as described above.

C. I do not possess the basic education requirement, as described above for this position.

A. I have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include duties such as: identify and determine the facts regarding the evolution and construction of historic structures and sites; document the chain of ownership and history of a group of historic buildings in a historic district; perform a study involving the architectural history of the United States or the history of technology or landscape architecture studies; or participate in a cultural resource inventory program.

B. I do not have the one year of specialized experience as defined in 3A above; however, I have successfully completed two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a masters or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited educational institution concentrated in a field that is directly related to the work of this position, history or other directly-related subject matter.

C. I have not completed one year of specialized experience as described in 3A above, or the two years of graduate education in a directly related field as described in 3B above, but I have an equivalent combination of such graduate education and experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level (50 percent of the specialized experience requirement) and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of progressively higher level directly related graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement).

I do not have the one year of specialized experience as defined in 4A above; however, I have successfully completed three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in an accredited educational institution concentrated in a field that is directly related to the work of this position, history or other directly-related subject matter.

C. I have not completed one year of specialized experience as described in 4A above, or the three years of graduate education in a directly related field as described in 4B above, but I have an equivalent combination of such graduate education and experience. For example, I have six months of the specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level (50 percent of the specialized experience requirement) and 45 semester hours or 68 quarter hours of progressively higher level directly related graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement).

KSA-1. Knowledge of the history of American architecture, history of technology, or landscape architecture studies, including typologies, materials, building technologies, and industrial processes, and demonstrated familiarity with the scholarly literature and sources for research in the field.
