Thank you for your interest in a position with the Department of Justice (DOJ).  Your response to this assessment questionnaire, in conjunction with other portions of your completed application, will be evaluated in making screening decisions.

 

This is a DOJ job application system.  Your responses in this Assessment Questionnaire are subject to evaluation and verification.  Later steps in the selection process are specifically designed to verify your responses.  Deliberate attempts to falsify information will be grounds for disqualifying you or for dismissing you from employment following acceptance.  Please review your responses for accuracy before you submit this application.  Incomplete/incorrect responses may result in you not receiving appropriate consideration.

For each of the following three questions, please select the response that best describes your education and/or experience. You may select only one response for each question. If you feel that your education or experience exceeds all of the descriptions for a particular question, choose the description that is the closest level to the experience or education that you possess. Failure to respond to these questions will result in an ineligible rating.

From the descriptions below, select the ONE response that BEST describes the education and/or experience that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform as a GS-5 Legal Assistant (Docketing).

A. I have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service. My qualifying experience involved performing the following types of duties: performing various clerical/administrative duties in support of the operation of an office (for example reviewing or processing routine documents, maintaining files, routing in-coming mail, responding to phone inquiries, and typing correspondence).
B. I have 4 years of education above high school.
C. I have a combination of specialized experience as described in A and education as described in B which when combined equal 100% of the requirements.
D. I do not have the education or experience as described above.

2. From the descriptions below, select the ONE response that BEST describes the experience that you possess that demonstrates your ability to perform as a GS-6 Legal Assistant (Docketing).

A. I have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal service. My qualifying experience involved performing the following types of duties: maintaining automated records for criminal and civil cases from initial referral to final disposition; performing docketing and legal report development using a computerized case tracking and record keeping system.
B. I do not have the experience described above.

A. I have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in Federal service. My qualifying experience involved performing the following types of duties: serving as a technical expert in docketing, extracting requested information, statistics, and writing reports. Trained employees in the operation and use of a case tracking system.
B. I do not have the experience described above.

14. Explains the operation of the system and the importance of timely information to both new attorneys and legal assistants.

15. Receives telephone calls on case status from client agencies, courts, employees within the office, city, country and state law offices.

16. Assists legal assistants and other employees in obtaining information from the data base and in interpreting output.
